Meet out Medical Staff :

Dr. Lori A. Brown, MD, FACP, Medical Staff Board Certified - Internal Medicine
BS - Stanford University, Palo Alto, California
MD - Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, California
Internship – University of California, San Diego
Residency - Stanford University Hospitals
Dr. Brown joined Magers Health and Wellness Center in 2021. Dr. Brown grew up in Anchorage, Alaska. After training in California, Dr. Brown practiced traditional Internal Medicine in both Alaska and Washington. Dr. Brown then served for over a decade as Professor of Medicine at the University of California in San Diego where she had a busy medical practice and taught medical students and residents. Dr. Brown also served in multiple administrative roles at UCSD including serving as Clinical Services Chief for the UCSD Division of General Internal Medicine. Dr. Brown is married and has two children. Outside medicine, Dr. Brown’s interests include hiking and camping, fitness, music, travel, and spending time with her family and two golden retrievers. Dr. Brown is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.


Dr. Lori Cohen Physician, Medical Staff Board Certified - Family Medicine

MD - University of Missouri
Dr. Cohen joined Magers Health and Wellness Center in 2022. She is a native of Arkansas and moved to Missouri to become a Missouri State Bear. After completing her residency in Massachusetts, she moved to Bolivar where she has been practicing family medicine for the past 22 years. She is married with five children. Dr. Cohen has a passion for women's health and mental health.  She enjoys reading, hiking, and learning Mandarin Chinese.  


NP Shana K. Del Vecchio, Nurse Practitioner Medical Staff Board Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner

MS Nursing with Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification - Case Western Reserve University
Nurse Practitioner Shana Del Vecchio is a native of Springfield. Her primary interest is women’s health care—gynecologic, reproductive, and overall health and fitness. Nurse Practitioner Del Vecchio is a Board Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner with Added Qualification in Gynecologic Health Care.


Dr. Ernest Emmerton, DO, Medical Staff - Family Medicine
BS - College of the Ozarks
MD - Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine
Dr. Emmerton joined Magers Health and Wellness Center in 2021. Prior to obtaining his medical degree, Dr. Emmerton served with the US Navy. Dr. Emmerton has served as a medical doctor for the US Army, is a retired Colonel of the US Air Force, and retired physician for VA Health. Dr. Emmerton also had his own private practice in Ozark and has taught biology and chemistry at the High School in Marshfield. 


Dr. Filip J. Garrett, Physician Medical Staff - Family Medicine
BS - Missouri State University
MD - University of Missouri Residency - Mason City Iowa
Dr. Garrett is a native of Southwest Missouri. Following graduation from residency he worked in Family Medicine in Mason City for 13 years. He returned to Missouri State University and joined the staff at the university health and wellness center in 2001. Dr. Garrett is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.


Dr. Monte Maska, Physician Medical Staff Board Certified - Family Medicine
BS - Creighton University
MD - University of Kansas School of Medicine
Residency - Good Samaritan Hospital, Phoenix, AZ
Dr. Maska received his Bachelors of Science from Creighton University in 1987. He received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1993. He completed his residency at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix Arizona in 1996. He is board certified in family medicine and has been a practicing physician in Springfield Missouri since 1996. He was employed by St Johns/Mercy Hospital here in Springfield from 1996 till the fall of 2023. He is very happy to be a new staff physician here at Magers Health and Wellness, and enjoy helping the Missouri State University community with their healthcare needs. He and his wife, Kara, were married in 1992 and have three children, Ashley, Luke, and Ally. They love the Ozarks!

Dr. Jennifer McNay, Physician Medical Staff Board Certified - Internal Medicine

Residency - Internal Medicine, University of Iowa, Iowa City
Dr. McNay joined Magers Health and Wellness Center in 2021. Prior to joining, she worked in outpatient internal medicine for Mercy Health System for more than 26 years. Dr. McNay also served in administration roles at Mercy including VP of Adult Medicine and ultimately, as President of Mercy Clinic, Springfield Communities before retiring in October 2020. Dr. McNay is married (Mark McNay) and has two children (Riley and Anna). Outside medicine Dr. McNay enjoys gardening, photography, spending time with family at home and at the lake and traveling. Dr. McNay is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. 


Dr. Robert W. Scott, Medical Director and Physician, Medical Staff Board Certified - Internal Medicine
BS - Harding University, Searcy, Arkansas
MD - University of Missouri, Columbia
Residency - University of Missouri, Columbia
Dr. Scott has practiced traditional primary care internal medicine at St. John's Health System in Springfield, Mo., St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Okla. and the Cox Health System back in Springfield, Mo. prior to joining university health and wellness center. Dr. Scott's interests include medical mission trips to Central America with emphasis in Nicaragua. He also is an avid bicyclist and when time allows pursues photography. Dr. Scott has been active in the Greene County Medical Society serving as past editor of the society's journal for 10 years and as president in 2007. Dr. Scott is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

Tarah Trokey is honored to join the Magers staff as of January 2025 and serves patients in the immediate care. Tarah is also a native of Springfield, Missouri. She has previously practiced as a PA both in the primary care and urgent care settings while enjoying the beautiful state of Oregon for 5 years. She also brings a background in and passion for sports medicine and has previously worked at Mercy Orthopedics locally both as a PA and as an athletic trainer in the past. She also serves as a full time faculty member here on MSU campus as a professor in Physician Assistant Studies. Outside of medicine and teaching, Tarah enjoys just about anything that involves being physically active, from cycling to rock climbing to hot yoga and anything in between.

Dr. Sellers joined Magers Health and Wellness in 2021. She and her husband, Mark, grew up in Missouri, yet have lived in Maryland, Virginia, and Minnesota, before resettling in Springfield. Dr. Sellers has two daughters in college. One in a graduate program at MSU and the other finishing up at Drury University and pursuing her graduate degree at MSU. Dr. Sellers enjoys reading, hiking, hosting house concerts, and spending quality time with her family. She also supports her husband in his home improvement projects---she is really good at demolition. 

 

Dr. Mark Sellers, Pharmacy Staff
PharmD – University of Maryland
Dr. Sellers joined Magers Health and Wellness Center in 2018.  Prior to obtaining his pharmacy degree, Dr. Sellers served with the US Navy as a nuclear-trained Engineering Laboratory Technician aboard the fast-attack submarine USS Baltimore.  After pharmacy school, Dr. Sellers served in the US Public Health Service with both the Indian Health Service and Federal Bureau of Prisons, retiring as a Commander in 2018.  He began working for the US Agency for International Development in 2019 as a Pharmaceutical and Medical Commodities Technical Advisor.  He is married to Jill Sellers, and they have 2 daughters.  He enjoys cycling, hiking, and tackling home improvement projects.
