Magers Health and Wellness Center is very cost conscious, you will find our fees to be typically lower than community providers.

Insurance information

Please be sure to bring your insurance card with you whenever you come to Magers. Magers Health will process insurance cards at appointment check-in and will bill your insurance the next business day (if charges are accrued). It will be up to your insurance company to pay according to their plan. Magers is in the MSU Med Pay network and Magers is in the AHP International Student Health Insurance Network. Magers is not in most commercial insurance networks. If you would like to see and complete the medical insurance information form, please fill out the insurance information document. If you have a separate insurance for medications or prescriptions, please complete this form. Once this form has been completed it can be emailed to MagersPharmacy@MissouriState.edu or faxed to 417-836-4086.

If you are a student who does not have insurance more information is available on the Student Health Insurance Plan page.

Fees for services and prescriptions may be paid for at Magers Health by cash, check or credit card, or charged to your University account.

FAQ's:

Q. How much am I going to be charged?

A. We have very low costs for employees and for students who have paid their semester health fees:

  • Basic 15 minute office visits with our Primary Care Medical Staff are free for students
  • Flu shots are free for students, employees, and employee dependent for students
  • These common lab tests: rapid strep screen, mono, CBC, and urinalysis tests are free for students.

Students will be charged for some items, such as other lab tests, X-rays, prescriptions, over-the-counter medications, appointments with specialists, and longer primary care visits. The fees for services we do charge for are kept at the lowest rates possible.

Q. Do I need medical and pharmacy insurance?

A. Students without pharmacy or medical insurance may be seen. They will be billed directly. Medical and pharmacy insurance is advisable, for all students.

Students with pharmacy insurance can provide their insurance information to the pharmacy. We hold contracts with hundreds of pharmacy plans. If the student’s pharmacy insurance works at Magers, then we can inform the student of the amount of the co-pay at the time the prescription is filled.

Students and employees with medical insurance can provide their insurance information to the clinic business office. The policyholder’s name and address will be needed, as well as the insurance card. We will courtesy file all medical claims but we cannot guarantee the medical insurance company will pay, as we are not able to be in contract with most commercial medical insurances.

Q. Do I have to pay for my charges at the time of visit?

A. Students and employees in good credit standing may defer their Medical and Pharmacy charges to their MSU accounts.

Q. Can the student’s parent call the billing office and give them their credit card information over the phone?

A. It is against University policy to take credit card information over the phone.

Q. Can I use our Health Savings Card to pay for charges?

A. Most of the time the card is accepted. The card must be presented each time and cannot be kept on file.

Q. Whom should I contact if I have additional questions?

A. The Business Office personnel will be happy to assist you, 417-836-4010.
