Flu Information

The best way to prevent seasonal flu is to get vaccinated every year. The flu vaccine available at the Magers Health and Wellness Center covers the four most common strains of the influenza virus. Magers Health Center also has Fluzone, which is a high dose option for those who are ages 65+. Flucelvax is an option available for individuals who have have egg or chicken allergies. When scheduling a special flu vaccine (Fluzone or Flucelvax) please choose the option in the reservation time designated for the specific vaccine.

Flu vaccinations can be received Monday through Friday 8am-4pm. Please schedule an appointment through MyHealth Portal. Please check in at the front desk or the vaccination check in table before receiving your flu vaccination. There is no cost for students, MSU employees, household members of employees, and retirees on MSU’s insurance. Retirees on Medicare will need to check if Magers Health and Wellness Center is in network. Other individuals will have a charge. The flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses, and can cause mild to severe illness. Serious outcomes of flu infection can result in hospitalization or death.
