Dr. Lori A. Brown, MD, FACP, Medical Staff Board Certified - Internal Medicine

Dr. Brown joined Magers Health and Wellness Center in 2021. Dr. Brown grew up in Anchorage,
Alaska. After training in California, Dr. Brown practiced traditional Internal Medicine
in both Alaska and Washington. Dr. Brown then served for over a decade as Professor
of Medicine at the University of California in San Diego where she had a busy medical
practice and taught medical students and residents. Dr. Brown also served in multiple
administrative roles at UCSD including serving as Clinical Services Chief for the
UCSD Division of General Internal Medicine. Dr. Brown is married and has two children.
Outside medicine, Dr. Brown’s interests include hiking and camping, fitness, music,
travel, and spending time with her family and two golden retrievers. Dr. Brown is
Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Lori Cohen Physician, Medical Staff Board Certified - Family Medicine

Dr. Cohen joined Magers Health and Wellness Center in 2022. She is a native of Arkansas
and moved to Missouri to become a Missouri State Bear. After completing her residency
in Massachusetts, she moved to Bolivar where she has been practicing family medicine
for the past 22 years. She is a mom to 5 teenagers and is interested in adoption and
China. Dr. Cohen has a passion for women’s health. She also enjoys reading and hiking.
Dr. Sara L. Cook, Physician Medical Staff Board Certified - Family Medicine

Residency - John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth
Dr. Cook grew up in California. Dr. Cook specializes in family centered medical care
including pediatrics, women's health, and chronic disease management for all. During
medical school and residency, she enjoyed volunteering in hospitals and clinics in
Mexico, India, Ghana, and Zimbabwe. She and her family have spent over 10 years working
in Africa. Prior to MSU, she has worked at Cox Hospital and Flagstaff, Arizona. She
appreciates her patients' trust and the caring for and learning from each person.
In her free time, she loves to travel, hike, bike, and any other outdoor activities
while spending time with family and friends. Sara Cook is raising four children while
serving the medical needs of her community.
Dr. Gloria Damien, Physician Medical Staff - Internal Medicine
BA - Manhattanville College
MD - The Medical College of Pennsylvania
Dr. Damien completed her internship and residency at Bridgeport Hospital in Connecticut.
Dr. Damien then spent over 34 years practicing internal medicine in Baltimore, Maryland.
After moving from Maryland to Missouri, Dr. Damien joined the physician staff at Magers
Health and Wellness Center.
NP Shana K. Del Vecchio, Nurse Practitioner Medical Staff Board Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner

MS Nursing with Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification - Case Western Reserve University
Nurse Practitioner Shana Del Vecchio is a native of Springfield. Her primary interest
is women’s health care—gynecologic, reproductive, and overall health and fitness.
Nurse Practitioner Del Vecchio is a Board Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner with
Added Qualification in Gynecologic Health Care.
Dr. Anne Egbert, Physician Medical Staff Board Certified - Internal Medicine
BA - Macalester College
MD - Ohio State University
Residency and Fellowship - KU Med Center in Kansas City
Dr. Egbert was a professor of Medicine at KU’s Wichita branch for 26 years before
moving to Springfield, where her husband joined the MSU Engineering Faculty. Dr. Egbert
is board certified in internal medicine, geriatric medicine, and palliative medicine.
She enjoys her 10 acre rural home, hiking, dogs, and tai chi.
Dr. Ernest Emmerton, DO, Medical Staff Board Certified

MD - Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine
Dr. Emmerton joined Magers Health and Wellness Center in 2021. Prior to obtaining
his medical degree, Dr. Emmerton served with the US Navy. Dr. Emmerton has served
as a medical doctor for the US Army, is a retired Colonel of the US Air Force, and
retired physician for VA Health. Dr. Emmerton also had his own private practice in
Ozark and has taught biology and chemistry at the High School in Marshfield.
Dr. Filip J. Garrett, Physician Medical Staff Board Certified - Family Medicine
BS - Missouri State University
MD - University of Missouri Residency - Mason City Iowa
Dr. Garrett is a native of Southwest Missouri. Following graduation from residency
he worked in Family Medicine in Mason City for 13 years. He returned to Missouri State
University and joined the staff at the university health and wellness center in 2001.
Dr. Garrett is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Jennifer McNay, Physician Medical Staff Board Certified - Internal Medicine

Residency - Internal Medicine, University of Iowa, Iowa City
Dr. McNay joined Magers Health and Wellness Center in 2021. Prior to joining, she
worked in outpatient internal medicine for Mercy Health System for more than 26 years.
Dr. McNay also served in administration roles at Mercy including VP of Adult Medicine
and ultimately, as President of Mercy Clinic, Springfield Communities before retiring
in October 2020. Dr. McNay is married (Mark McNay) and has two children (Riley and
Anna). Outside medicine Dr. McNay enjoys gardening, photography, spending time with
family at home and at the lake and traveling. Dr. McNay is Board Certified by the
American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Robert W. Scott, Medical Director and Physician, Medical Staff Board Certified - Internal Medicine
BS - Harding University
MD - University of Missouri
Residency - University of Missouri
Dr. Scott has practiced traditional primary care internal medicine at St. John's Health
System in Springfield, Mo., St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, Okla. and the Cox Health
System back in Springfield, Mo. prior to joining university health and wellness center.
Dr. Scott's interests include medical mission trips to Central America with emphasis
in Nicaragua. He also is an avid bicyclist and when time allows pursues photography.
Dr. Scott has been active in the Greene County Medical Society serving as past editor
of the society's journal for 10 years and as president in 2007. Dr. Scott is Board
Certified in Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
