'Privacy-Friendly' Practices

  • Understand the law and your organization's policies
  • Attend training and education programs
  • Report problems
  • Treat your patient's information the way you would want your personal information treated

Be aware of the basic requirements of the new privacy law and your organization's policies. Make sure you attend training sessions on patient privacy and facility procedures.

If you see or hear a problem report it. If someone you know is inappropriately sharing confidential information, put a stop to it and remind them of their responsibilities.

Finally, treat your patient's information the way you would want your personal information to be treated and protected.
