For domestic (non-international) students who will be seeking health insurance options, there are several possibilities:
This site is by Academic HealthPlans, the company which provides international student coverage for Missouri State University students. It provides domestic students a wide array of privately purchased health insurance options. The student can select according to their individual preferences with varying premiums and coverage. Generally, these plans start in January of each year. If the student needs gap insurance before then, this site also has those options. Live operator help is available.
These domestic insurance plans are not affiliated with Missouri State University and they are not managed by Taylor Health Center.
This is the federal health insurance web site. Generally these plans start in January of each year. There are some provisions to obtain insurance sooner if the student has various qualifying events which are detailed in this web site. This site offers live operator help.
- Many students have been purchasing insurance through their parent(s)’ plans, up to student age 26.
- Insurance can also sometimes be obtained through private agents or directly from the health insurance companies.
Taylor continues to offer free basic office visits and reduced lab, radiology, pharmacy, and consultant rates for the outpatient care needs of our fee-paying students.
We hope the partial list of options above will help the student if they do not yet have health insurance coverage. Let our Business Office know if you have questions or suggestions of ways we can help further.
